On November 3, 2006, 39 of the puppies rescued from the north of Israel during the conflict with Hezbollah arrived in Washington, D.C. for a chance at a new home in the U.S. The puppies are in temporary homes in shelters throughout the area, while they make appearances at adoption days scheduled to be held in Washington, D.C., Virginia, and Maryland. Most of the puppies are now around four months old.

"We reunited many puppies with their original families, and we placed more with new families in Israel as a result of numerous, well-publicized adoption days. But adoptions go slowly in Israel, and we are concerned that they will be adults, and therefore more difficult to place, before they are all adopted," says Nina Natelson, CHAI's Director. "We want to give them the best opportunity we can to find homes, and so we are bringing them here."
